Hi there teachers!
This week I come with more activities related to storymaps! If you haven’t seen my last two posts, I also recommend you to check them!
Well, today I would like to share with you some ideas to work CHARACTER TRAITS with your students. As always you will found some printables to download for free!
There are some easy games that are really useful to work vocabulary with kids. One of the favourites is a memory. You can download the pdf here, or you can also create your own or better; you can make your students create their own memory!
WHO AM I ?
This is one of my students favourite games. The idea is to do some gestures and actions in order to make the rest of the people guess the character that you have. Of course, there are variations.
- Dress up like…
- Speak like…
- Move like…
- Sound like…
WHAT’S IN MY MIND?
This is one of my favourite games, because it is very simple and funny for students and teachers! The idea is write a character on a post-it or something similar. Paste the little paper on your students face.
By asking questions they have to guess what character are they!
After playing a lot with characters, I decided to make something more challenging, something that students have to think and decide with their partners.
As always, there are more ways to do it, and also depending on the level or the age of your students, you can adapt it!
My idea is to make the students work in small groups, in order to classify characters. You can give them some clues or the names of the groups they have to classify the characters, or better… you can give them the freedom to classify the characters as they want.
You will see amazing results !
If you want to create your own cards, here I share with you the templates! I printed many copies, and this way, I can add characters, settings or adjectives if I want! It is nice to have this kind f material, because it is really useful and it gives you a lot of different possibilities!
Finally, I created these worksheet to summarize everything they have learned about characters. This is a CHARACTER REPORT, where pupils have to complete the information about a character ( real or invented).
That’s all for this week! I hope you find it useful!
