STEP 3: THE 5 CLASSROOM RULES (WBT)

banderines blog

Hello again!

As I promise, I am publishing a post every week about WHOLE BRAIN TEACHING! Today I am talking about THE CLASSROOM RULES! Do you have classroom rules? Of course… yes! But are they on a clear display?

In Whole Brain Teaching there are 5 rules that can be used in any kind of class. It doesn’t matter what kind of students do you have or how many pupils are in your class. Of course, I recommend you to change any rule you think you won’t use. It is important to adapt them depending on your needs!

Let’s look at them!

  1. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS QUICKLY

Sometimes you give one direccion to your students but they don’t follow it… Rule number one wants to make your students responsible of their class as a group and follow every direccion quickly in order to work better in class.

2. RAISE YOUR HAND FOR PERMISION TO SPEAK

In my opinion, it is very important to respect the others when they are explaining sometrhing. Rule number 2 wants to make sure that your students respect the others by raising their hands to speak.

3. RAISE YOUR HAND FOR PERMISSION TO LEAVE YOUR SEAT

For those energetic students who can’t stop, and for everyone who needs to stand up, rule number 3 is going to help you to mantain a good behaviour in class.

4. MAKE SMART CHOICES

From my point of view this is the best rule! I really believe in it! It is very important to be aware of our decisions. That’s what rule number 4 wants to highlight!

5. KEEP YOUR TEACHER VERY HAPPY

And finally… Why not? If everybody follows the rules, and is able to life together in a good atmosphere in class, the teacher will be happy and students too. Maybe, I would change it for the following one: BE HAPPY

And here you can watch some real examples!!!!

This is how I have the 5 rules in the class. I recomend you to build a display where everyone can see them! You can also create your own rules!
